Harvest predictions are starting to be made by Napa Valley winemakers. Despite uncommon weather patterns with summer temperatures in the 60s and 70s instead of normal 80s and 90s and lots of coastal fog, the wine community is very optimistic. "Conditions like these were last seen in 1974, giving us a rare opportunity to make wines with real elegance," Michael Mondavi told The Drinks Business. "Slow ripening produces the best wines. Sugar levels are likely to be lower is 2010, allowing us to fashion once in a lifetime wines with lower alcohol levels and great balance and finesse."
